Tetracycline HCL 250 mg
Excipients q.s
PHARMACOLOGY
Tetracycline are broad spectrum antibiotics and are Bacteriostatic. They exert bacteriostatic effect by binding to the 30s Ribosomal subunit of microorganisms, thus inhibiting protein synthesis. They are deposited in growing bone and teeth causing staining and should not be given to children under 12 years or pregnant woman.
INDICATION
Tetracycline is indicated in the infection of the ear, nose and throat, respiratory tract, gastro-intestinal tract, liver, genitor-urinary tract: veneral diseases.
CONTRAINDICATION
Tetracycline is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to it or other tetracyclines, children under 12 years, pregnant woman, kidney disease, systemic lupus erythematosus.
ADVERSE EFFECT
GI disturbance; overgrowth of resistant organism; photosensitivity and dermatological reaction.
DOSE
The oral dose of LATETRA-250mg 4 times daily; increased to 250 mg 6-8 times daily in severe infection. Not recommended for children under 12 years, or as prescribed by Physician.
STORAGE
Store in a cool dry place. Away from light. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
